Are Goldendoodles Single or Double-Coated?

Because Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed, they typically inherit a poodle-like coat without a true undercoat; however, variations do exist, particularly in straighter-coated Goldendoodles, which may have a double coat. Goldendoodles with a single coat will typically have wavy or curly hair that is low-shedding, but those that look more like their Golden Retriever ancestors will have a “flat” double coat that sheds more frequently. In any case, this breed requires regular brushing to prevent matting, and we offer plant-based, human-grade dog shampoos to support Goldendoodle maintenance.
