Are Labrador Retrievers Single or Double-Coated?

Labrador Retrievers are a double-coated breed with a soft, insulating undercoat and a weather-resistant top coat. Their coat is designed for water protection and temperature regulation in hot or cold conditions, but they are also heavy shedders, so they will have “blowing coat” seasons. It is also important to regularly brush Labrador Retrievers with a rubber comb or slicker brush to manage their undercoat. Our selection of specially formulated shampoos includes a de-shedding dog shampoo for double-coated breeds.
